In 2005 the company was awarded the "Industrial Excellence Award", a prize for Upper Palatinate's best factory, by Europe's Industry Competition panel. In 2006 it also won the "Automotive Lean Production Award" presented by the business journal AUTOMOBIL-PRODUKTION in cooperation with management consultants Agamus Consult, specialists in the automotive industry .
In 2008 the Bayreuth plant received the Bavarian Quality Prize from Bavaria's State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology in cooperation with the Technical University (TU) of Munich.

 - Specialists for keyboards
Cherry has developed and produced keyboards since 1967, so making it the world's oldest keyboard manufacturer. The striking red logo with its three cherries has been a symbol of quality and reliability for over 40 years. The keyboard specialists will continue to use the brand name Cherry while operating under the umbrella of ZF Electronics GmbH.
The market leader for standard corded keyboards develops and produces solutions for both consumers and the Business sector – in Germany over half of office desks are equipped with Cherry keyboards. As always, the development work is carried out by the engineers based at Auerbach / Opf. They are responsible for thinking up trend-setting innovations such as the world's first application involving solar technology and for developing customer-specific solutions where required. Products undergo detailed testing and comprehensive quality control at the in-house laboratory.
Although development and production took place in parallel only a few years ago, the requirements on an consumer keyboard are nowadays very different to the demands made on an input device designed for the Business sector. Since the launch of the CyMotion 2003 series Cherry has worked closely with Marwin Produktdesign. Renowned design prizes such as the IF Design Award, the red-dot Design Award and the Plus-X-Award in 2005 paid tribute to their cooperation resulting in innovative, high-quality hardware combined with appealing product design. The eVolution series launched in the summer of 2006 represented consistent further development aiming to offer stylish products combined with Cherry's customary quality standard. The company thus successfully caters for every price category, from the entry-level keyboard to the high-end keyboard / mouse bundle.
In the Business sector the top priority is still absolute reliability. Solutions for individual requirements also need to be realised in many areas. The integration of magnetic / chipcard readers and biometric fingerprint sensors has produced a wide range of special keyboards for applications in health care, security and point of sale (PoS).
For years, Cherry products have helped safeguard security in crucial areas for businesses through compliance with special security standards, e.g. Common Criteria certification at Evaluation Assurance Level EAL 3+ for qualified electronic signatures. Cherry cooperates with competent software partners in the Business sector to ensure it can always provide the best possible solution for individual customer requirements. Cherry – one switch solution, a thousand possible applications
Cherry has developed and manufactured electromechanical switches since the firm was founded. The product portfolio has been systematically expanded beyond microswitches to include electronic controls and touch controls based on infra-red technology for the household devices industry and sensors. Cherry switches, controls and sensors guarantee optimal operation and high level of reliability in a wide range of versions in household devices, cooking areas, electrical tools, motorized saws and many other applications. Cherry's customers include all well-known manufacturers such as BSH, Miele, Whirlpool or Electrolux.
